Jason Payne has spent the past twelve years of his life banging away his stress and anger on his drum-set, the past four as drummer for the Clarksville hardcore band Flood. The youngest of three siblings, Payne began his musical career on a five-piece Blackhawk kit from Sears and Roebuck that his dad bought him as a birthday present. He practiced in his basement for a year before he felt comfortable enough to play in front of people. His first show was a tenth-grade talent show where he and his friends covered a Danzig song. His influences range from Helmet and Quicksand to early Soundgarden and Metallica to Smashing Pumpkins. A love for the music has kept this life-long resident of Clarksville banging on his drums for awhile now, and odds are he’s not going to stop anytime soon.
