Jeremy of KraKt

Jeremy Smith, guitarist for Krakt and life-long resident of Paducah, is a complex individual and musician. Aside from battling Attention Deficit Disorder and episodes of depression, he also deals with having witnessed some severely messed up shit over the course of his young life (he's had a gun pulled on him three times at point blank range, and he has also witnessed friends dying in front of him). But through all of the curve balls that life has thrown at him Jeremy has maintained an intense hunger and desire to create some of the heaviest, most brutally intense music around. He began his musical career six years ago playing along to Korn and his two biggest influences Head and Munky, falling instantly in love with the blends and the dirtiness that they made. After learning the basics on his dad's 1974 Fender Music Maker, he switched to bass for a few months before making the permanent move back to the guitar. He currently plays a seven-string guitar in his band. With the ever-present support of his family and friends, Jeremy has gotten stronger musically with every passing day. The face paint that Jeremy dons while on stage with his fellow bandmates has special significance to him: "Every line has a special meaning to it. I have three Xs on my face. One to cover each eye, and one that crosses out my face. They all entwine to make each other. I also have a line down the middle that shows a split personality trait that I have. The X over my eyes stands for the fact that I want to be blind to all the things I've seen that I don't want to see, such as watching a few friends die in front of me. The X on my face was a feeling of worthlessness that my depression problem gives myself." Although Jeremy hasn't had the easiest of lives with the struggles he's had to endure, he's living proof that if you're serious about creating music it takes a whole helluvalot to put out the fire.
