Lapp Dog Takes Bite Out Of Music Scene

GET THE LEASH
Watch out! The Dogs are loose! Not the 102 Dalmatians, but the intensely heavy
trio Lapp Dog, from Jackson, Tenn. Cris Brown,Jereme Hubble and Kevin Scott are
hoping 2001 is the year of the dog. With a new demo CD out, shows scheduled all
over the country and a killer web site, this dog may very well have its day.
The band’s biggest influence is Machine Head, although Pantera’s influence can
be heard on "Cease To Be" (off of the first CD). "People who come to our shows tell us sound like Machine Head and Tool. We play really intense music, with heartfelt lyrics and (the audience is) going to have a good time for sure", says Brown.
. The rowdy three-piece consists of Cris, vocals and guitar, Jereme on bass
and Kevin providing the drum work. With their road crew of Terry Brown and Jeff
Clark by their sides, they cross the country widening the Lapp Dog fan base. "We’re really good friends", says the band. Thankful to only have three band members, they add, "there is always a benefit when you are dealing with less people. We’re not the band that doesn’t get along".
THE NEW CD IS OUT
"Flybye", the first release off of the new CD, debuted at no. 11 on www.realrockradio.com. This becomes an even bigger accomplishment when one considers the serious signed competition such as Creed and Rage Against The Machine. The CD may be purchased through www.lappdog.com for only $5 each. Be sure to get your copy now. Songs can be heard or downloaded on the above sites as well as www.napster.com and
COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU !!
The summer tour is taking shape with shows planned in Indianapolis,Chicago and
at CBGB’s in New York City. They are also looking forward to gigs in Florida,
California and Georgia. But one upcoming show really has the Dogs drooling.
They are slated to play at The Sanctuary in Las Vegas with Machine Head and
Sevendust. In addition to the larger venues, Lapp Dog will continue to play
local clubs throughout the Southeast. Fans have already been converted in
Nashville, Memphis and Clarksville, as well as in their home turf of Jackson,
Tenn.
In February, check out Lapp Dog at The American Legion in Jackson on the 17th,
and Emerson Theater in Indianapolis on the 24th. Add their homepage to your
favorites and keep an eye on the calendar. You’re not going to want to miss a
show. "Our site changes daily, so keep coming back to it", the group emphasizes.
SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BANDS
"Support your local music scene. There’s a ton of killer bands that are playing
every weekend and no one’s checking them out", Cris says. I couldn’t agree more. Pick up a newspaper (they won’t bite),or call around. There are great bands playing their hearts out for you. All you have to do is show up. The music scene in the Southeast is getting bigger and better, but the growth can’t continue without fan support. Hope to see you at the clubs.
