So what's a rock star doing in Nashville, Tennessee, home of country music? "I'm here recording my second album The Road Less Traveled, and once again, the title track has proven to be the story of my life."
Born in Somerville, New Jersey, her family moved more than twenty-five times (including overseas), and she attended high school in three states. This lifestyle helped Cheryl to continually develop new talents as she sought to define herself through her music, and she adds, "it's been the perfect training ground."
At the age of fifteen, while living in San Francisco, Cheryl began her musical career as a drummer for the punk band Private Outrage. Riding high on the excitement of performing live and opening for national punk act The Circle Jerks on her first gig, Cheryl realized music was her calling. A few years later in Florida, she picked up a guitar. This, along with the self-discovery and development of her voice, proved to be monumental in her growth. It was time to step out front. The years that follow turn into an impressive and varied list of work. Bands, gigs, records, print, radio, TV, and film appearances.
She received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and minored in Music and Music Business & Entertainment Industries from the University of Miami-Florida in 1996. Cheryl has always been a do-it-yourselfer with regards to her career, not because she wants to, but because she has to. "I'm going to do something the best way I see fit for me."
And The Road Less Traveled is a fine example of that. Twelve cuts have been recorded. These songs explore musical extremes that magically come together into one smooth flowing album of pure Cheryl Hill vision.
"The road was long and hard. But as I reflect on it all, I wouldn't have changed a thing. It has made me who I am today." ~Cheryl Hill
Cheryl 's passion for life is evident in the many causes she supports, including the following:
