Say What You Gotta Say

It all started with 3 individuals that had one identical dream. Basner first started practicing together in late March of 2001. With Warren Miller on guitar, Kevin Centofanti on bass, and Cullen Chadwick on drums the band has surely become a local rock sensation.

Cullen started a while back just beating on buckets in the alley. Growing up in a house with a father who used to play in a band, Cullen Chadwick has been surrounded by music all his life. Kevin started playing bass when he was around 12 or 13 and hopes to make "easy money" by being in a band.

"I don't want to have to get a real job and being a rock star would supply that kind of easy lifestyle," says Kevin.

Warren Miller, at the age of 17, bought a guitar and taught himself how to play and soon began writing songs. Warren has grown up listening to artists such as The Beatles, The Who, The Beach Boys, and Weezer who have all inspired him to want to start his own band someday. After being introduced to Cullen and Kevin by a mutual friend, they started "jamming" together. After a few practices in Cullen's shed they formed the trio now known as Basner.

Why the name Basner? The band originally had a list of about 20 possible names and the final vote was between Basner and Baxter.

"We went with the name Basner partly in honor of Mr. Basner (teacher) and partly because we liked the sound of it a little better than Baxter," says Kevin Centofanti.

On February 2, 2002, they recorded a 5 song e.p., named "Groundhog Day"(hence the date that is was recorded), at Gradwell Studios in Gloucester City. The album features songs such as "Thief" and "Times Gone By". The songs of Basner range from topics such as serious lyrics about relationships to sarcastic lyrics about the stereotypes of being a rock star.

"It's just rock music. I don't like comparisons or labels, it's just plain rock music," says Warren Miller.
