Altered Perception is Jimmy Cuadra. In 1997, I developed an interest in electronic music, upon influence from Nine Inch Nails, Gravity Kills, and Marilyn Manson. Music had always been a strong interest for me. A few times I tried to start bands with friends, but none of my attempts developed into anything productive. When I discovered electronic music, I knew I had found my destiny. No people to hassle with, no group meetings gone sour, and lots of creative freedom. Plus I have always been interested in computers, so this combined the two very well. I bought a synthesizer and began experimenting with MIDI recordings. Soon I became Stigma, an electro-industrial wonder. Over the course of two years, I released five self-produced demo tapes. The quality at first was pretty bad, but got better very quickly from demo to demo. The first two recordings were made on a borrowed four-track recorder. The next one was mixed down from the four-track to an Aiwa mini-system, and were much better quality. The fourth demo tape introduced digital audio, so the vocals and guitar were even better quality and use of the four-track was completely elimnated. Between 1999 and 2000, I went through some extreme personal trouble, and no music was produced for many months. After my problems subsided, Altered Perception emerged. This new name allowed me to build on the work of Stigma, but with a more hopeful, less angry, more positive image. I feel that the music I produce today is great, and a token of my musical and emotional growth over time. I plan to continue to create music, and to upgrade my equipment, skills, and knowledge as long as I can. Take a listen to my creations. I hope you will like what you hear. |
